Unframed oil painting on wood Dimensions 47.5 x 47.5 cms (19" x 19") Signed and dated 1998 on the reverse. The painting is executed on two main panels of wood bolted together (as typical in McCree's work. Sale accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Originally exhibited and sold at the Grosvenor Gallery, 18 Albermarle Street, London W1X 3HA in July 1999 at a solo exhibition of the artist's paintings. "These images (Flying Boy I etc.,) are not paper illustrations of a story: they are paintings on wood; polished, tactile, weighty icons... The shape of the wood encloses the Flying Boy I, both confining him and and framing the charged space around him for us to contemplate.
