Philip Byrne was born in Palestine in 1944 and he was educated in Cyprus and Yorkshire before pursuing a career in Industrial Design. By the 1990's he had his own successful design agency with a blue chip client list. He retired early to dedicate himself fulltime to his artwork.
" Drawing is the key to my creativity. It's my ambition to convey the sensation of physicalilty and feeling. It's like putting my arms around a body... Portraits and full-figure work don't interest me at all. It's the beauty of the body that I love. Heads are too individual. For me, each body is representative of all mankind."
